The Adoption Process

The adoption process in Serbia is regulated by the Family Law of the Republic of Serbia and is focused on protecting the best interests of the child. 

The process generally includes:

• preparation and assessment of prospective adoptive parents, 
• educational and counseling programs, 
• professional evaluations, 
• matching procedures, 
• and adaptation and support during the transition period. 

The primary goal of the process is to provide children without parental care with a safe, stable, and permanent family environment.
